SULTANAHMET
Many
places of tourist interest are concentrated in
Sultanahmet, in heart of the Imperial Centre of
the Ottoman Empire. The most important places in
this area, all of which are described in detail in
the “Places of Interest” section, are Topkapi
Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque,
theHippodrome, Grand Bazaar,
Basilica Cistern and the Museum of Islamic
Art.
In
addition to this wonderful selection of historical
and architectural sites, Sultanahmet also has
a large concentration of carpet and souvenir shops,
hotels and guesthouses, cafes, bars and restaurants,
and travel agents.
Apple
trees bountifully grow everywhere but they
originally stemmed from Central Asia to Europe.
Turks carried 3 things with them at the time of
migration from Central Asia; first one was tolerance,
second was hospitality and the last one was apple.
Turks embraced their apples with great munificence.
